Q: What is the purpose of the Conference?

NHCOA's Annual Conference is the preeminent information-sharing and networking event for professionals who work on behalf of older adults and for corporate, federal, and community leaders dedicated to understanding the needs and promoting the wellbeing of the fastest-growing older adult population in the US, the Hispanic elderly. With more than 25 years of leadership experience, NHCOA provides a setting at its Annual Conference for stimulating information exchange, skills-building, partnerships, and collaborative projects in direct and practical response to the needs of a growing and diverse elderly Hispanic population.

A: YOU! The Conference sessions and meal events aim to engage everyone who is interested in or who provides services and support to older adults and their families, including:

Q: What is the cost of registration?

A: Registration Categories include the following:

  • Regular Registration (Individuals, nonprofits, government)

  • NHCOA Affiliate Members

  • Full-Time Students

  • Boomers

  • Senior Registrants (age 55 and older with no affiliation to NHCOA)

Q: What is included in the registration fee?

A: Conference registration includes access to all meal functions and evening events, as well as workshops, town halls, and the Expo: Plaza del Intercambio: A Resource Exchange.

Q: Do I have to pay the Conference registration fee to attend a workshop?

A: No. All NHCOA Conference workshops, town halls, dialogue sessions, and Expo are free and open to the public.

Q: What are the Expo: Plaza del Intercambio: A Resource Exchange dates and hours?

A: Wednesday, November 5 – 9:00 a.m. – 12 noon

2:15 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Thursday, November 6 – 8:00 a.m. – 12: 00 noon

Q: Who can participate in the Community Walk?

A: We encourage all families' members to participate in this beneficial community event, which includes a ceremonial low-impact one-mile walk to support the fight to prevent diabetes! All pre-registered participants will receive a free t-shirt, healthy snacks, and water. The walk ends at the Hotel Albuquerque with a ribbon-cutting that will officially open the NHCAO Annual Conference Expo: Plaza del Intercambio: A Resource Exchange.

Q: Do you offer scholarships?

A: We offer a limited number of scholarships per year to older adults. However, these scholarships are limited to the availability of funds. If you are interested in finding out how you can apply for one of these scholarships email rgriego@nhcoa.org.

Q: How do I volunteer?

A: We are looking for enthusiastic and energetic people who care about our abuelitos and their familias. If you are interested in sharing some of your free time volunteering at our Conference, please email rgriego@nhcoa.org.
